Have you ever eaten duck eggs?

A local farmer started selling free range chicken and duck eggs last year.  Out of curiosity and because he raved about them, I bought the duck eggs.  After cooking them up, I was instantly hooked.  They are delicioso! I don't care if Daffy Duck gets pissed off.   Those little quackers are yummy in my tummy.

Sure. When I was a kid. My grandparents had a poultry farm. We had lots of eggs, chicken, duck, goose. I don't remember how they tasted though.

Veena, it's okay.  I know Jaimie is holding you hostage.  I'll slip in a couple of duck eggs for you to try when she's not looking.  I know you'll love them.

That is an actual bird.  Not a fake one.

I've eaten duck eggs, goose eggs, quail eggs and even a wild turkey egg (and not the kind of Wild Turkey that comes in a bottle, get your mind out of that gutter). They were all good, tasted just like chicken, that hadn't been hatched yet.

Yup.  Only thing on your list that I haven't eaten is a wild turkey egg.  I have eaten an Ostrich egg, actually a shared one.  Also tasted like a chicken egg to me too.

Never tasted Ostrich eggs. But now that you mention it I'll have to ask my kid about that. I think that they sampled one while in South Africa.

I find ducks to be a fatty bird.  I can understand why you might not like them.  I do like eating them but haven't had one in years.  Their eggs taste like chicken eggs but have a little more flavor and I find they cook up a lot fluffier.  Makes for great scrambled eggs but is even better as a fried egg on a sandwich.

  • I don't remember ever seeing a duck egg in a grocery store, but I do like chicken eggs.

I get them from a local farmer.  He just started selling products last year and I like to support the local guys when I can.  He made such an impassioned speech about how tasty and nutritious they were, he convinced me to try them.  No one else I know will eat them because they get freaked out by it.  My feeling is, if you don't have an issue eating a chicken egg, you shouldn't have one with a duck egg.  It's not logical IMHO.  (Except, I give Jaimie a free pass on this one. ;-)).

They are so delicious.  That is why I know I am going to heaven because I forsook all meat; all animals no matter how tasty they are to my tongue.
