Is YOUR state in dire straits or doing hunky dorry? Condolences if the former and do you know how lucky you are if the latter?

Devasting floods in Texas. 41 dead so far. Thousands displaced. Unknown yet is the  cost to rebuild but it is very very very very  bigly.  It was 104 in San Francisco Friday. First time in history. Burbank area of southern California is suffering disastrous fires. Are you aware of what goes on elsewhere or only aware of that which affects you personally? Why?
