Do you belong to any fan sites, which ones and what do you like about it?

I joined this closed group on Facebook that is a forum for fans of a certain TV show.
At first I was surprised at how many people liked the same reality show as me and were actively discussing it.
The show I'm talking about is just a competition reality show.
It's cool, but it's been on forever and I thought the deepest conversation I might have with these other fans is "Who was your favorite competitor?"
I was surprised at how serious they take that show and how they will re watch the past seasons and make up fantasy casts and really delve into every detail of that reality show and they constantly post photos and selfies that they took at bars and just anywhere that they can track and find any contestant that is or has ever been in that show.
That fan page really has a stalker vibe to it.
Like, these people live for that one show and audition for it and talk about how close they were to getting on it etc.
I don't know?
Maybe I'm being negative but I think I'm gonna leave that group because I don't have a good attitude about it and I want to tell those people that it's just a stupid reality show and that they should stop stalking the competitors.
It's sad to me.
Am I being too judgemental?
Do you belong to any fan sites and why do you like them?

I am on youtube sites that discuss Game of Thrones but it is not really a fan site thing.  It is talking TO fans about what they say to HIM.

The guy is great, the questions are amazingly researched and it is fun.  I learned a lot about the show this way.   I guess it is a fan site.  The fans do interact on the bottom of the screen on some of them.

But anyway, this is one I have never seen.  This name has to do with Danerys (I never spell it right) Stormborn.  She is awesome and the Mother of Dragons in the series.  She is really cleaning up the political mess going on all over the lands, but she can do nothing against the Winter that is coming for the next 1,000 years.  Everyone is doomed.

And yet, this is the best tale ever.

  • True, but technically I'm not a member.  My application was turned down, so I hired on as a consultant.

  • I used to post on a Lost forum, but it has since shut down. I sometimes post on a Simpsons discussion forum. Other than that, I don't post on many "fan" sites, but I do post on some specialist sites for those who know classical music and one for those who know linguistics and conlanging.

  • Cool, I like the Simpsons too.
Quite an amazing little world that they've created on that show.
So many hilarious characters. : )

    Thanks Nevan.

I am a member of what is---for me---arguably the most important fan club in the world---the Tom Jackson fan club.

Why do I have one?---I think Rabbi Hillel (a famous Jewish religious leader, one of the most important figures in Jewish history) said it best about 2000 Years ago:

If I am not for myself, then who will be for me?

(And, if not now, when? is good implicit advice as well.)

No TS.  I don't think you're being too judgmental.  I don't belong to any fan sites.   I don't give a crap about someone else's opinion about a show.  Mine is the only one that counts.

  • I was just on it because someone on AM told me to talk to women with similar interests.
Join groups etc. of people who actually like what I like if I'm looking for compatability.
Well it turns out that I don't like that show as much as much as the other people in the group.
I tried it, I thought it might be fun but I'm moving on.
