What does your perfect salad have in it?

For the sarcastic demographic out there, I'm talking about the ingredients.

Its not about what goes in, it is a matter of what goes together.

  • What? ... no, no.  Chop up the ingredients, toss them in a bowl and add a little barbecue sauce. Yum!

For green salad, less is more.  I like a variety of greens and tomatoes with olive oil and vinegar dressing.  Cucumbers (when not bitter) are also good in it.   If this is dinner I might add parmesan to it and have a chunk of Italian or French bread with it.

I am reading my old veggie recipe book, The Ultimate Vegetarian by Crescent Dragonwagon (Yes, that's her name) anyway, she was saying the same thing as you.

She hates overdressed salads.   I cannot have enough dressing, myself, but I want people to have their preference.

    Less is always more.

  • For the most part I'm a salad dodger. I do enjoy a salad or romaine lettuce, red onions, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, and pepperoncini though :) Maybe some croutons and vinaigrette couldn't hurt :)
