Do "takers" ever realize on their own that they're taking too much or are they unaware?

Oh they realize it.  They have a little running story in their head that they deserve it.

That's how they get away with it.  They will sniff out the givers and glom onto them.

What's really fun is when two TAKERS get together and neither will admit to the other that they are takers.

IMO..There are gluttons who are usually unaware of their being one until told...

The chief error about Gluttony is to think it only pertains to food. Some people can't have enough toys, television, entertainment, sex, or company. It is about an excess of anything. There are at least three forms of Gluttony: Wanting more pleasure from something than it was made for. Wanting it exactly our way (delicacy). Demanding too much from people (excessive desire for other people's time or presence). www
