As a business owner what is it you value? That your employees are very good at what they do or that they agree with you politically?

Would you fire an employee whose work was of excellent quality/quantity but who disagreed with you politically? If so what would you have gained by doing so?  What would you have lost?

Having the same political views as me would not be a reason not to hire or to fire a good employee.  Having said that, if the employee insisted on discussing their political views with customers and customers were uncomfortable with that, I would have to insist that the employee not discuss his views during work hours.

I'm going to make the assumption that you're talking about the situation with the NFL.  Yes, these players have every right to have a political view, have every right to protest what they feel is inequality, etc., but not on the playing field.  People do not come to games or watch them on TV to see players air their personal grievances.  Off the field, they should be free to say what they wish.

Yes I am Spunky and I totally disagree with thee. What the players/coaches/owners do doesn't interfere with the game at all. It is simply something they feel they should do. For the Dotard Doofus Donny to make a big deal out of it more than a little absurd. What respect has he shown the Constitution, we the people or our country since taking the office? He has made fun of it, ignored it, trampled on it and betrayed it at every turn. He has mocked it and mocked us for calling him out on it. That this piece of worthless trash some folks elected prez is causing such meaningless aggravation shows how shallow he is, how brain-dead he is and how desperate he is to always be the focus dividing people and causing an up roar. How joyful it makes him to be the center of attention no matter what it takes. Now you have a right to your opinion of course. This is mine. Happy Thursday! :)

I respect that your opinion differs from mine.  Ask yourself what, if anything, these players who are so horrified at the inequality in this country have done to make things better in the communities they believe suffer from this problem.  Ask yourself just how much good their taking a knee will do to promote education, relieve poverty, provide opportunities in communities of color.  Get off that knee and get into those communities and do something to help them reach their capabilities.  Instead of taking a knee, take some of your millions and do something useful with the outrageous sum of money you are being paid to play a child's game.  As for your assessment of the person who is currently occupying the Oval Office - on that we agree.  Happy Thursday. :)

I respect your opinion too Spunky as I respect you. I simply totally and completely absolutely and irrefutably disagree with you. As a citizen I have a Constitutional RIGHT to protest and so I shall.  Whether it does any good or not I cannot control nor do I think I am that powerful that what I do or say matters at all to anyone but me. That's the thing. I would do it for me and I don't give rat's a** what anyone else would think of that. They are not me. Their brains are not wired the same as mine. Theirs emotions are not akin to mine. What they value and think is important I don't. Why can't you do  BOTH? Why is it either/or? Why can't you take a knee and ALSO spend whatever you can afford to spend in order to do what is needed? I see no conflict there. Thank you for your thoughtful reply Spunky. I believe in their right to protest peacefully, I just don't think that taking a knee on the football field while the national anthem is playing is the right venue to express their opinion.  Disagreeing is all good.  :)

That's what America is all about, right? We have the right to disagree pleasantly and cordially. I would be kneeling down and you would not.  So what? It's not a big deal at all Spunky. Certainly not worth all the time Dotard Donald John has spent on it. He spent more time on that than Puerto Rico. He says everything is fine and his administration is doing just fine there and that he keeps getting praised. Well the Mayor of San Juan tells a very different story. SIGH. What else is new? Thank you for your reply sweetie and Happy Friday! :)

It is deplorable. Still no potable water, no electricity, no gas for how many days now? Once the Dotard pulled his  head out of the place the sun don't shine he magically and quickly made everything good and even praised himself repeatedly. All this even though Dotard Donny didn't know that Puerto Ricans are American citizens. When the governor of Puerto Rico sent word to him for help the Dotard Doofus told him to contact the leader of his country for help. I am not kidding you. Unless the Governor of Puerto Rico is a liar and I can't think of a single reason why he would lie about something like that. Thank you for our reply Spunky.

We agree on this, Rosie.  Then again, we both know that there is a lot this president doesn't know.

If their political opinions were interfering with my business, yes I would tell them to either keep it to themselves or they will be fired.

That isn't in my question m2c. You put it there. If an employee does his/her job do you CARE if during an election campaign he/she wears a button for a candidate of whom you don't approve? Would you FORBID the employee from having a bumper sticker on his/her car in support of a candidate you didn't like? How would that interfere with your business?  Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday.

The first words of your question: As a business owner.....
    I am a business owner.
No I would not allow wearing a campaign button at work. Bumper sticker on a car is fine. As long as it did not cause debate/arguments  with other workers  or customers.
If they are a good worker, they will not allow it to interfere with work or customers.

  • Normally no.  I mean being National Socialist,  Stalinist, or Maoist activist might be too much for me handle giving a paycheck to.
