Steve Mnuchin says "NFL players can do free speech on their own time". I didn't know there were limits/places where you could. Did you?

Who the he** needs Steve Mnuchin's permission to do anything? Who does he think he is" Mini-Donald John? Seriously folks he is so full of himself he is gonna explode if he isn't careful.  The pompous a**iness of that statement is unbelievable.

What he is SAYING is we are limited in our FREE SPEECH now.

    Oh my GOD.

The courts are going to be clogged over this.  Is he going to fire people who do not salute the flag for reasons of dire protest?

He is a DESPOT dotard so he will do whatever he can get away with doing and go beyond that as well since his adoring worshippers defend/accept whatever he wants to say/do. Whatever. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! :)

If a reporter asks a question....he should give his opinion.

So you disagree with the colleges having "safe spaces" and "free speech zones"?

    i don't disagree with anything.

This is an observation that even you cannot ignore.

We are in effect, being told that if we do not conform to hypocracy, we are going to be punished for it.

If these guys refuse to conform to this pressure to praise the FLAG, they will be off the team, or worse.   They will be broke in court costs.

The government and the NFL are going to have to wade through a lot of crap to clear this problem up.

Imagine whole sports teams going against Obama or even BUSH?

This is a new LOW for the PRESIDENT OF THE USA.

I am so proud of these guys for embarrassing the PIG of the USA as much as they can afford to do so.

(CNN)Rather than taking a knee, most NFL players opted for a show of unity Sunday, locking arms ahead of their games amid criticism from President Trump who slammed players opting to protest during the national anthem.
Still, plenty opted to kneel during "The Star-Spangled Banner," with the Baltimore Ravens' Terrell Suggs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Mike Evans among the stars following the lead of former pro quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who pioneered the anthem protests last year over what he was said was social and racial injustice.
Kaepernick, who has sat and knelt during the anthem, has said he refused to honor a song or "show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." He also referenced the shootings of black men by police as one of reasons for his stance. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way," he told NFL Media. "There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

Ahead of a Sunday morning game in London and afternoon games, players from several teams, including the New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins, took knees during the anthem. With the exception of one player, the Pittsburgh Steelers didn't even take the field until the anthem was over. The Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans also chose not to take the field for the national anthem.
In Sunday morning tweets, Trump renewed his criticism of the protests, slamming the league's ratings and saying players should be fired or suspended for such protests. On Saturday, he called for NFL owners to fire any "son of a bitch" who "disrespects our flag."
"What you just saw was a variety of responses with the theme of unity," an NFL This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at September 25, 2017 9:07 AM MDT

So you agree with "safe zones" and "free speech zones".
Sorry but they work for the owners. The owners can tell them exactly what they can do when they are on the clock.

No, a reporter should NOT give his opinion. Otherwise he's editorializing. And that's what's wrong with journalism today. A reporter should report just the facts.

I did not mean the reporter give his opinion. I mean Steve Mnuchin was asked by a reporter and should answer.

Where did that come from? Out of the blue and off the wall for sure. I'm saying that apparently we are NOT ALLOWED to exercise our CONSTITUTIONAL right to free speech at work. Only on our own time. Your question makes no sense to me if it supposedly related to the question I asked. Thank you for your reply m2c and Happy Tuesday to thee.

Where did it come from? Your question mentions "free speech " and "limits/places"....the first thing that brought to my mind was the "safe spaces and free speech zones" imposed by some of our colleges.

When we are at work,  we represent our employer, it is not the time for protests etc. It is time to do our jobs.

Let's see . . . black people that are being paid millions of dollars a year in this country are protesting their "oppression"? Now THAT'S a hoot.

But when they're out there on the field they're employees of, and represent the team that they're playing for, and the NFL. And just like everyone else that's on someone else's payroll their employment situation is NOT protected by the 1st Amendment under those circumstances. If they were told to take the field or stand for the national anthem, and they refused to do so, then they can be fired for insubordination.

And that may happen. Enough people are getting sick and tired of this BS that they just may start to let their feelings be known to the NFL and the management of the several teams. Empty stadiums look really bad on TV.

They are not protesting about themselves being opressed. They are talking about all the negroes that have been shot by cops for no good reason recently and in the past.

The suckuppers who worship the Despot Dotard would never take a knee. A 97-year-old WW2 vet did do exactly that in support of the NFL. I asked a question about it yesterday! There ya go. Different strokes. Thank you for your reply Ele and Happy Tuesday! :)

Sure there are limits to free speech, The most famous example is yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theater. You may even be held responsible if somebody is killed or maimed in the panic you caused. This post was edited by JakobA the unAmerican. at September 26, 2017 2:39 AM MDT

You might try to sing at the top of your voice while a work. The firing slip may say something else, but that will get you fired from most every job there is.

I can't even ALMOST relate to your comment JakobA. Why would I do that? I am a retired Internal Auditor. We don't do stuff like that even in our wildest imagination. We don't do LOUD in any form..talking or singing or humming or yodeling or screaming or yelling or getting hysterical or crying. I'm not talking about such extremes. I'm talking about standing up for your beliefs and not being afraid of what people will think of you if it's not what THEY think. I have heard of places where the employees ARE REQUIRED to make political donations to the candidate the owner wants. REPUBLICAN businesses mostly but there probably are DEMS that do that kinda crappy stuff too. Now would you work at a place like that and obey the owner or would you say that is not the person you want to win so you will decline to kick in realizing that you could get fired for it? I don't roll over for anyone. I don't do ultimatums. I don't expect others to agree with me but I do expect that I have a RIGHT to exercise my CONSTITUTIONAL right to speak freely. That's it. Thank you for your reply. I would NOT stand up in a crowded place and yell FIRE either just in case you wonder about that too. I was an extremely and painfully shy child. I wanted to be invisible at times and not attract attention. I am still that person. Sidelines not center stage. Yelling anything anywhere would attract attention. I do not do that. Did I beat that dead horse enough? :)

I know that is what you are talking about, but who can judge the difference? I cannot, and frankly I dont think you can do it with 100% certainty either.

It is, once again, the problem of a graduated view of the world versus a world wiev based on the idea that people must be either 100% Evil or else 100% Good, with no other alternatives possible. From what you say it sounds like you consider TRUMP and his followers to be 100% evil and wrong and I cannot agree with that any more than I can agree with the Trumpeteers claim that Trump is the wisest and best man that ever walked on earth. In my eyes both views are silly, Nobody is that wise or that evil. Such absolutes exist only in Propaganda, not in real life.

Ya got me there! Dotard  Donald is 100% evil as are all his toadies i n my opinion and that is the only one that matters to me because it affects me and my life up close and personal..not at a distance from a far-off country.  Why do I say that? Because he is a racist and wants the divide among us to grow. He takes great pleasure in the fact that he can manipulate his worshippers into accepting/defending/justifying anything he says or does without question. They do that. Whatever he supports is to aggrandize himself, his family, his friends, the wealthy. He doesn't give a rat's a** about the poor or old or ill. He ignores the Constitution. Lies all the time.  I think all of that is evil. He would not be prez if he didn't think he could get a lot richer. He appointed billionaires who are also milking us for everything they can. He appointed anti-folks to head departments like education and environment so they could hobble them/gut them /eliminate them/destroy them. Gutting Medicaid as the repeal and replace (which failed again) would do would result in the deaths of many. He doesn't care. He spent two days ranting about taking the knee by the NFL and "Little Rocketman" and said nothing about the human disaster going on in PUerto Rico. TWO DAYS! The only thing he said about Puerto Rico was to comment on its terrible infrastructer and mountainous debt. He got bad feedback from that so NOW he is going to Puerto Rico next Tuesday. Because he gives a sh** about the people there? No. He was obviously told by someone that it doesn't look good and he wants to look good no matter what. I see nothing redeemable about him JakobA. You do. That is your right. I am exactly what you describe. I see him as 100% evil with no good in him at all unless it serves him or some goal he has that is important to him. Thank you for your reply. Different strokes. He is Despot Dictator. A racist . A selfish greedy self-serving powerful man. :( Woe is us.

It appear that this entire fracas is not about Trump at all, bot much more and maybe even ony about the many black people who have been shot by cops for no reason. The first such protest was when Obama was still predident.

So why have Trump thrown himself at it so whole heartedly, and turned it into the major News story it has now become.
Jealousy because it was not about him?- That fits well with Rosies view of Trump.
To prove that he could end a protest that Obama couldent? - no big success.
To distract people so they dont notice something worse? - Quite likely. There are several possibilities: such as The diplomatic failure with North Korea, The stom damage in Puerto Rico, and The citizens getting shot by cops for no reason.
Something else? - Cold also be the most likely answer This post was edited by JakobA the unAmerican. at September 27, 2017 5:48 PM MDT
