I disagree with thee cp. In order to make that statement you would have to know EVERYONE. What you are saying is your opinion. Now there are different kinds of lies. Some are said to prevent pain/hurt to another person. For example you visit your dying friend in the hospital. He/she looks terrible. He/she says "I must look terrible". What do you say? "Yes you do" or "You look wonderful to me"? That is a kind lie. That you do to save someone grief or pain or discomfort. Lies to cover your own a** are the kind people usually tell because they know they did wrong and they are too cowardly to admit it. OR they tell lies to harm other people . OR they tell lies to cover the a** of someone they admire like say, a president who also lies. Those lies? They suck and EVERYONE does not tell them. In my opinion.
