Halloween is very weird, when you think about it. It's one of the strangest holidays I know of, and I'm speaking cross-culturally. But I've always loved it, even if I don't trick-or-treat anymore :P
The idea of having a day to celebrate the "scary" is fascinating to me. It seemed to always make things seem less scary as a kid, and I don't see that as an issue.

It isn't a holiday and I've never thought of it as one. It is a day that can be fun for little kids. I always enjoyed it as a parent. Now I don't even turn on my porch light and there are very few kids here. Back home, before I moved, I usually bought a treat for the few kids that lived around me but stopped being a trick-or-treat contributor when the teenagers started showing up with a bag. I always told them they were too old and if they wanted to be out in the streets they should be watching over the y oung kids without parents.
