Are you among those who use percentages authoritatively? Example. "He is 85% wrong about everything". Now how can anyone KNOW such a thing?

Does such a person pull those percentages from his/her a**? Unless you know EVERYTHING someone says (which is impossible unless you ARE with him/her 24/7) and also KNOW whether something is true or false yourself you cannot possibly KNOW. But people do it all the time. Now the question is WHY?

    I read it more like Out of 20 statements he has made 17 were easy to prove incorrect. Not a matter of 'his degree of correctnes' so much as 'his hit rate' :-))

    "Hit rate"? I have not heard that term before JakobA. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday. By now I'm sure you've heard about the massacre in Las Vegas,Nevada. With regard to guns what is life like in your country?  Do you have a problem with them? Are there very strict rules as to who can own them? Do you own a gun m'dear?

    Nowhere near as bad, unregistered guns of any kind are stricly forbidden. to get a permit there are exams and a desired use form to be filled (eg, hunting or being in the armed National Guard). as a result gun homicides are less than 1/10th of what you have. and homicides by other means are also lower (about 1/3), a fairly safe place to live.

    I know m'dear but the gun people who run the country discount that totally. It matters not one whit to them. Whatever argument you bring up they have one to counter it.  They will never agree to any legislation that has anything to do with guns. The result of which as you can see is disgustingly and predictably horrendous. But the beat goes on. Do you know what happens in the states after a mass murder? Gun sales go up. The gun folks think the government will confiscate their guns so they go out to buy more. I shall ask a question about this.  Thank you for your reply. Europeans are so much wiser. Australians too. In fact everywhere that despot dictators don't rule they're wiser.
