    Literal, of course. To me: "You know what I meant." Back at her: "No...I only know what you said." That's just me, as well you know.

     Yeah. So you say. You get what I say even if/when I am using metaphor/allusion/analogy. Don't sell yourself short. I honestly don't remember ever having to translate anything I said because you didn't get it. I do know that there are some questions that aren't your cuppa tea but you show up anyway and say something off the wall. That's fine. Oh. I asked the question about sound. "Can all living things of animal origin hear? Microbes too??   Whaddya say? Wanna answer it? It's direct. No metaphor/analogy/allusion! :)

    I actually don't know. I'm sure they respond to sound stimuli, but I have never researched.
