Memory is very mysterious. Sometimes the more complex/complicated things are easier to remember than the simple? Why?

I was trying to remember the character name of Herve Villechaize on "Fantasy Island". I had no problem remembering his real name but his character name took a lot longer to recall. Tatoo. How easy is that? Now why is that?
