We LOVE EXTRAVAGANZAS! Fireworks! Loud. We don't notice small-scale quiet desperation. We are jaded. It takes a he** of a lot to get us off track and we go right back to that track as if nothing happened once we get bored. We are blase. Sophisticated. Debonair. Detached. Aloof. Pretty soon we won't even notice massacres. We should be used to them by now. Soon nothing will affect us no matter how big or loud or devastating. It will be a fait accompli when we have all given up being human. Some are there already. They beat us to it.
