Many decades ago when I was much younger our favorite topics were "what is the meaning of life" and various themes/iterations thereof. There was never a conclusion. The subjects were always open-ended and flexible. Never rigid pronouncements. Usually "what if" possibilities. I do not remember discussing politics. It was more about abstract concepts than concrete ugly reality. That was then. SIGH. This is now. Oh my! :(
