If you think you own the rights to your conversations or even your name you don't! Did you know that? Stupid isn't it?

An Answermugger shared a horror story. Denied access to a recorded conversation that would substantiate  claims about what was said during it. Also in another absurdity a coffee roaster business owner got a CEASE AND DESIST letter from See's Candy telling her she could use NOT her legal name for her business. It was "See's" of course and it was "See's Coffee Roasters". Now who would conflate See's Candy with See's Coffee Roasters? Would you?. She had to change the name of her business. Does that make sense to you? Why?.

It makes perfect sense to me. If a company has spend time and money establishing a name and a reputation, I think it is well within their rights to prevent others from profiting from their name or from detracting from their name by using that name, regardless of whether or not they happen to share the same name. Companies often branch out, so the fact that a coffee brand shares a name with a candy company would not necessarily stop anyone from thinking they were connected.
