Is there any redemption later in life for parents who weren't involved with their kids?

For instance, if a parent bails on the family or just doesn't help take care of the kids, becomes a deadbeat, etc., do they "redeem" themselves by stepping up to the plate when the child is a teen or adult?

It depends on how forgiving the children are, and to what extent the parent makes an effort, and how much time can heal.

I don't give up on people easily.  True redemption is always possible.

I believe the parent at fault would have to prove himself/herself worthy.
