I know a strict vegan who would induce vomiting if she discovered her mistake soon enough. Generally she has an acute sense of smell and would notice something like poultry, seafood or meat stock in food. Yet she tends not to trust even her nose. She very rarely eats anything unless she's cooked it herself, trusts the cook, or has watched the preparation.
Other vegans I know don't freak out, but do avoid that source of food afterwards.

I'm a Hindu, beef and bacon...are a no-no....when I first landed in US...I ordered a pepperoni pizza and my brother's daughter asked me ...have you started eating beef..I was aghast....I thought pepperoni meant pepper..yes Element...I'll freak out because cow is worshipped by us and umm ...well;))
Im not a vegan by choice, I just dont like meat. If I found out there was meat in something I was eating, I would probably keep eating it if it tasted good. Chances are, it would not taste good to me, thats why I dont eat meat.
