Indeed. Though, of course, not everyone is intellectually, emotionally or spiritually capable of seeing what the long term interests of "the people" are.
The idea that the left represents "the people" is nonsense. You talk as if the right are some wealthy elite ruling class. The right are ordinary working people. The people are divided. You don't represent my interests and you don't represent the long term interests of anyone.
The left are mostly just selfish people. Selfish people never admit they're selfish. It's part of the selfishness. It's in their self interest to virtue signal and pretend the stand for "the people", or some other bullsh*t platitude.
