It isn't a question of whether or not an order is moral, but whether or not the order is legal.  If the order is illegal, it should not be followed.

Who decides if it is legal Spunky? Do all folks in the military KNOW? If so why would anyone give illegal orders KNOWING they would be ignored? I guess I'm a little fuzzy about how that works. Thank you for your reply! :)

I don't know what kind of training people have when they go into the military, but I imagine they are told about the military code.  As for giving illegal orders, as in civilian life, there are those who will ask someone to do something they know is illegal in the hopes they will do it anyway,

I think the some folks are just wired that way Spunky. Seeing how much they can get away with turns them on. They think folks who follow the rules are saps. So they cut in front, cheat and lie and celebrate what they did...even brag about it! SIGH. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday! :)

If we want to be part of an organization with a chain of command we had best do what we are ordered to do.  Because that is why we are there, not to pass judgment on everyone and everything.

So you would not question anything then? Just do what you are told to do and make no determination whether what that was wasn't the right thing to do. I am not cut out for such a life. I question everyone and everything. I know my limitations. Thank for your reply and Happy Sunday to thee og.
