How do you answer a philosophical question by an interviewer?

They asked one I answered never got the job. Is this the way all jobs work these days?

If I could think of a good response I would answer it. If I couldn't I would say so and tell the asker I could research it.

Not all interviewers are the same, but, in general, these types of questions are more about your ability to think and respond than they are about giving a 'right' answer.

I would have to know the question before I could answer this.  Unless they told you that you didn't get the job because of your answer, I wouldn't make the assumption that was the reason.  It's been more than 26 years since I went on a job interview, so I really don't know what they do these days.

Dumbest question I was asked was "how much do you daydream?  Less than normal, normal, or more than normal?" I asked what normal was, and didn't get an answer. Got the job anyway.
