Not all interviewers are the same, but, in general, these types of questions are more about your ability to think and respond than they are about giving a 'right' answer.
I would have to know the question before I could answer this. Unless they told you that you didn't get the job because of your answer, I wouldn't make the assumption that was the reason. It's been more than 26 years since I went on a job interview, so I really don't know what they do these days.
Dumbest question I was asked was "how much do you daydream? Less than normal, normal, or more than normal?" I asked what normal was, and didn't get an answer. Got the job anyway.
