Discussion»Questions»Transportation» Losing control of the car when you hit a patch of black ice is mighty scary as is driving in thick fog. Ever experience both? When?
Only once - regained control very quickly as I'm not stupid enough to drive fast in fog. Black ice is rare even in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, but I encountered it often enough to develop a fear of it. Hit a patch of it in clear weather at Mount Victoria a few years ago, the car spun more than 180 degrees - scary stuff. Heavy fog is commonplace. I remember driving through a fog bank for four hours at less than 25mph - watching the cat's eyes on the road, they were all I could see.
