In the once upon a time days there existed Conservative Dems and Liberal Republicans. They are now extinct. Why?

If any still do exist and DARE admit it they are labeled RINO/DINO. Conservatives could be fiscal conservatives and liberal with respect t  o social causes. Dems could be exactly the same. They either died off or are now underground and fear for their political lives if not their lives period. Dare  to step out of the box? Dare to step over the line? Someone is watching and will make you pay for it. Comforting to know someone out there will be always watching our backs, isn't?  :(

  • In today's political system, there is a scripted, psuedo-war between Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives which is in reality a false divide-and-conquer dog-and-pony show created by the powers that be to keep the American people divided and distracted. In fact, the Founding Fathers warned us about the threat from a two party system.

George Washington warned against party politics. He said the following in his farewell address:

"The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this despotism to the purpose of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty."

John Adams warned us against political parties as well. He said:

"There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under it's leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution."

It's time to dispense with the theatrics, back stabbing, hatred, and schoolyard bullying tactics, and get back to the basics. Back to the Constitution. Back to the vision that our Founding Fathers had for this Constitutional Republic. It sickens and grieves me to no end to see how far this nation has fallen. Now that we are finally seeing hope rising out of the ashes, there are, unfortunately, those individuals who are ready to attack and try to destroy this hope.

The best argument Republicans have is “we’re not Democrats,” and the best argument Democrats have is “we’re not Republicans."

New York Senator Jacob Javits,  Governor Nelson Rockefeller (later VP for President Ford), and Connecticut Senator Lowell Weicker were three of the finest examples of liberal Republicans.
