Have you ever felt threatened by a newcomer?

You've posted this in the business section,

so I wonder if the newcomer means a competitor in business...?

I've never been in business,

but I did breed Arabians for soundness and good temperament.

I rode in Endurance for a while - never competitively because I am against putting an animal at risk.

I did moderately well, nothing much but acceptable by my own standards, and the horses I trained found loving homes where they would not be overused.

The price to me of insisting on good homes meant selling below cost and going broke. No one's fault but my own.

I did find newcomers a potential threat, but perhaps for different reasons than commonly occurs in most businesses.

Some new endurance riders could be pretty scary because they did not know how to ride safely on track, nor how to properly control their horses. Inexperienced horses could also be dangerous if one wasn't very careful.
