I have a hard enough time getting people to listen to me, when I'm speaking with the authority of being the person with knowledge on a subject.

I don't have any wish to speak for anyone else.  In fact, I try to avoid it even when I am asked by the person to do so.  The only exception being when I am acting as a "patient advocate" on someone's behalf (at their request).
