.
I'm starting to. I think it will hit in a wave like it is in Europe right now. They helped the refugees but the price is high, it's starting to look too high. We've just been lucky so far and we don't yet have the sheer numbers of immigrants/refugees.
No, I don't fear terrorism.
As I have pointed out on multiple occasions, the likelihood of any one person being a victim of a terrorist attack is so small (compared to other things which could harm/kill us), there is almost no point in being afraid of it.
Are you afraid of being struck by lightning? Statistically speaking, you are about 6 times more likely to die of a lightning strike than terrorism. For more common modes of dying, the numbers start in the THOUSANDS of times more likely than terrorism to affect you, and go up from there.
I don't fear either of them.
I don't waste any time worrying about either Rosie. And I'm certainly not going to fear what I can't be bothered to worry about. It seems silly to me.
People attempt to instil fear into a population by doing nasty things. Fear as a response is their admitted goal. So why play ball? Why help them? If the chance of being harmed by these fools was worth considering then I'd do it, but putting my jeans on every day puts me in more danger than any crackpot ever will.
I'm too old and cynical for bogeymen and I'm too stubborn to be told what to do or how to act unless there's good reason to back it up. :)
You can't escape knowing about those things my friend if you pay any attention at all to what happens worldwide daily. I know you do. You and your family can go out to a county fair and never come back because some terrorist who blows himself up was near you and blows you up too. That knowledge cannot be ignored. You don't have to dwell on it or
guide your life by it but you ought to be aware of it. To answer my own question and I wish you had answered it. I fear home-grown terrorists more than I fear strangers. To have a countryman hate his country so much and the people in it that he is willing to murder them strikes terror in me. The concept is abhorrent to me. Murdering your own fellow citizens because of hate is anathema to me. Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday.
I shall answer my own question. I wish you had done so as well. I fear domestic terrorists far more. They are turning on citizens of their own country out of hate. That is anathema to me. It's like taking out your own family. Mahalo for your reply OS.
Thank you for your reply B and Happy Saturday to thee.

I fear home-grown terrorists far more than strangers/foreigners
Baba. That they would hate their own fellow citizens so much is anathena to me. It would be like having a family member turn on you. Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday! :)
Theoretically what you say is true Rosie. But from my perspective the chances are so small it's just not worth investing emotional energy in.
But I thought about it again and did a bit of reading (the two main reasons I'm here and something I should thank you for far more than I do. :) )
Much to my delight, I found this; a student thesis and a pretty good piece of work (in my view).
http://www.e-ir.info/2013/11/11/comparing-domestic-terrorist-threats-in-the-us-and-uk/
The conclusions it reaches are no great surprise; western media gives far greater 'status' for want of a better word, to 'foreign' terrorism and acts they commit. Both the UK and the US suffer domestic terrorism in far greater numbers than the imported type, although a quick glance at the records would indicate that one is in more danger from an individual 'foreign' attack than a domestic one. We shouldn't forget that around 90% of 'terrorism' offences in the UK are animal rights activists. Their chosen targets will reflect their cause and frankly, many of them struggle to tie their shoelaces properly.
So I would happily agree that there are more 'discontents' who may plan to do harm within our borders than without. I have no doubt many foreign fruitloops will have perverted dreams of some horrible act or other, but it's a big world and local political requirements in some backward part of that world may well dictate that these people turn themselves into mince in places we've rarely heard of, let alone live near.
Thanks for the addition comment MrWitch. I appreciate it! :)
