Have you ever been a 'first' at something? I was the first student to ever wear jeans and a t-shirt in my high school.

Everyone was aghast, but there was not a rule against it.

In some ways it is, in some it isn't.  I had to always break the ice with my parents on dating, etc.  They got the benefit without the arguments. :)

My sister and I were the first to put up a halloween 'dummy' display in our town . It featured a woman dummy pulling on a rope noose around a man dummy's neck as he swung from a tree. The local newspaper came out and took a photo that was shown on the front page. It shocked people driving past our house. Within a year, EVERYBODY in town had Halloween dummy displays on their front lawn. Even today, 60+ years later, the local high school has a football rally featuring the rival team uniformed dummies being hung.

I was the first to marry and have children out of all my friends.  I probably was the first to get a divorce too.
