Does anyone know of why ripped jeans or clothes became fashion? It just seems bizzare.

Looking at them I feels that rats are invited to gnaw at clothes just to get them to the state that they are sold in showrooms.

In the renaissance era, like 14th century or something, some nobleman cut his sleeves and stuffed in fabric of contrasting colors, trying to get the support of the lower classes. It worked, and that birthed a fashion lasting several centuries in Europe. Variations exist to the present day.
