Putin started out as an Atheist but a car accident converted him to the Russian Orthodox faith. Does he seem religious to you? Does GOD approve of Putin's invasions and murder of dissidents?

Putin shows no religious inclination at all and neither does Trump but both claim faith. You can claim anything. It need not be true. Look at the track record of Trump. How much truth have you heard from him since he first opened his mouth? But pretending to be a person of faith supposedly sucks in others who actually are people of faith. They never pay any attention to anything he has done or said. Only what he says he will do. Why are they so gullible?

I have no idea.  God didn't share His sentiments with me, and I certainly didn't ask,

I think Putin thinks He IS GOD the way He speaks, the way He conducts himself- Trump resonates with this God complex alpha male victory obsessed syndrome, that He wants to befriend him and feel God like as well....God help us all

Putin's Christianity allegedly goes back to his infancy. Born in Leningrad (now reverted to St. Petersburg), his father was considered a model Communist, up to and including compliance with official atheism. His mother discretely maintained her Russian Orthodox faith and insisted that Baby Vladimir be illicitly baptized. Apparently aware that obeying the lady of the house is what keeps domestic peace, his father deferred to his mother's wishes and he was baptized.

It was successive events in the 1990s, his wife's car accident and then a life-threatening house fire, that put Putin in a mood to reconsider his atheism. Before a diplomatic trip to Israel, his mother placed his baptismal cross around his neck, where he says it has remained ever since.

Putin and the Russian Orthodox Church is an odd-couple relationship. Putin is said to support Syria's al-Assad for fear of what would happen to Christians if all order collapses in Syria. Mindful of the repression during 70 years of communism, the church wants to be on the safe side of the government. Church officials concurred with Putin's imprisonment of Pussy Riot band members when their performance in a church included songs critical of Putin.

  • I don't know what Trump is religious wise but if he was atheist it wouldn't mean he would be a bad person. If he was religious it wouldn't make him a bad person.
