Love the way you take one word of of context "we" meaning the city so I have to spell it out for you. Also being your so interested in my grammar I'm going on a hunch you really have no answer to this question. So why are you wasting my time ?
I interpret "we" to mean a member of the team or organization. Fans use that often, and I think it's silly and presumptuous, so I call BS when I see it - just my opinion. I root for NY teams as well, but I don't use "we." I live in the city, but the Giants, Jets, Mets et al are private entities - they are not owned by the city (not even East Rutherford, NJ, in the Giants' and Jets' cases) or the fans. If they were, the Dodgers and Giants couldn't have moved to California and the Mets wouldn't exist as we know them.
As to your question, Manning and Giants' management are the only people who can answer it. You won't get credible answers or info from randos like us on sites like this.
And BTW, ARCTIC is correctly spelled with two Cs. ARTIC is not an actual word. Just thought you should know that being as how it's part of your username.

I think you borrowed the 'we' concept from George Carlin. He did a similar comedy act. User names here can be spelled anyway one wants. Maybe I'll change mine to elment. Also, Green Bay folks CAN say we.
Yes, they can. But this is about the Giants, not the Packers. Why use an irrelevant example? And while I loved Carlin's work, my opinion on fans using "we" has nothing to do with him.
Don't get me started...you have pushed my sarcasm button. How do YOU pronounce Connecticut? By the way, using IMHO is irrelevant, as the preceding statement about Packer's owners is a fact, not an opinion.
