I know we all have different views/ideas/perceptions. A good example is a sense of humor. What triggers laughter?

Why do we laugh at such different things? What some think is hysterically funny I don't and vice-versa. But still what is it that forms the template for our sense of humor? Are we born with it in place? Are we taught by others what's funny and what's not? How much influence do others have on what we think is funny? Inquiring minds wanna know! :)
