Don't cut yourself short. You know lots of stuff I never will. The toe bone is connected to the foot bone, the foot bone to the leg bone etc. You know the names of all the damn bones...and muscles...and tendons.
That is what most smart people miss out on when they leave the books and go into the real world. I am very good at what they lack. This I can excel at. I am very street-wise and I know how to deal with people.
Thanks. Our two girls did very well also. My oldest was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and became Director of a Psychiatric Clinic at 27 and had a staff of 22. Now she's a stay-at-home mom. The youngest is an environmental planner for the county.
I think very few times it is a good idea but Michigan has an absolute no-skip policy which I think is too broad; I think each district should decide that on their own. There are many reasons why it might be a good idea or not and the people at the local level have better knowledge of their situation. I have a granddaughter who should have been moved up when she started school. She could have easily started in third grade. She tested out at an unbelievably high IQ and she is larger (both tall and wide) than everyone else....very awkward socially. People make fun of her because she never makes a B and she doesn't forget one single thing she ever reads. She has read all of the books in the library that they will allow her to read. She reads so quickly that she doesn't even mind finishing a book she doesn't like. Seriously, this kind of intellect is not a blessing. I don't know if she will ever be a happy person. She has said since she knew what it was that she wanted to be a patent attorney. That should be no problem getting the credentials for that career. But I worry about her ever being loved. That's the truth.

No...Carbon...but academically I did really well;)) Well, it all depends on how one fares in studies I guess, if one has good intellect and is a fast learner then I'm sure skipping a grade isn't a big deal;))
