"Junk in junk out" usually is in reference to computers. Bad programming leads to useless output. True of everything, right?

So ya got yer leader whose input is racist and hateful. What kind of output could you expect from that?

    As an ex-programmer, I must protest that the saying refers to bad data in, bad data out. 

    Programming is merely a process, and any errors in analysis, specification or programming should be picked up at the testing stage, but this still won't protect against human error in input if it defeats the validation.

    We said 'garbage in, garbage out' in reference to the input data, not in reference to programming. It also does not refer to data that you don't like or output that does not support your desired results, but that is still accurate. Sorry, Rosie, but this analogy does not work.
