What I find interesting is that CNN and MSNBC reported this story as 'fact'. CBS reported that they checked multiple sources and could not corroborate it.  Have you ever wondered who benefits from stories about Trump's supposed mental issues? Who would benefit by harming the credibility of the leader of the western world and reducing the country's global political influence? I have never seen the media, both news outlets and talk shows, spend so much time ridiculing and exposing the weaknesses of a president. Maybe the 'meddling' didn't stop with the election. Creating chaos and divisiveness was the aim then and it seems to be continuing.

I would think it should be pretty easy to do a voice comparison of the tape that Trump now claims he didn't make, but which he claimed was locker room talk when he was campaigning, to verify whether or not it's his voice.  As for the media ridiculing and exposing Trump's weaknesses, he brings that on himself with his endless tweeting.  Those tweets are out there in the public domain and, I think you're smart enough to realize that many of them are pretty ridiculous.  He told Leslie Stahl on a 60 Minutes interview she did with him that if elected, he would rarely tweet.  In fact, he has rarely stopped tweeting.  He feeds the media daily with his nonsense.  Why would they not report it?  It isn't as though it's secret communication.

I am not defending Trump or his tweets. I was just pointing out that the media is compounding the issue of weakening the US' position as a global leader and that this is beneficial to our adversaries. I believe that the current situation is exactly why Russia meddled in our election - to create a divided and ineffective administration. Reporting on what goes on is fine, it is the amount of time spent speculating and opining that is excessive.

Also, I'm not sure if you understood that I was saying that the story that was not corroborated was that Trump claimed it was not his voice, not the actual tape itself.

Thank you for clarifying both points.  You may be right about the media compounding the problem, but all Trump has to do is stop with the tweets and there will be nothing to report.
