Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» It's very sad when people have to give up their homelands in order to stay alive. How hard would it be for you to leave YOUR country? Why?
This strikes (literally) close to home because I live on the Gulf Coast of South Florida, and the seas are rising. Hurricane Irma raged right over our house and Maria smacked us around a bit more. The wrath of nature can force the issue like no other.
That being true, what would (and might yet) finally drive me from this homeland is the ongoing and epic failure of govt to serve and protect us citizens. The mass idiocy that is the festering status quo and which divides us, preventing us from attaining traction toward our common benefit.
It is becoming gradually less difficult for me to forsee a change of venue. If the sea doesn’t settle this, then what will is the US empire crumbling from rot within while we are increasingly imperiled from without, as incompetent, out-of-touch leadership at every level “fiddles away” to their own backbeat.

You very adroitly wove into your reply what is going on with climate change for which I thank thee Don B. Yes the coastal cities will get hurt first and worst. They will be underwater. From time to time we see maps of how it will start affecting us. The massive melting of icebergs due to rising temperatures is raising ocean waters. The polar bears are suffering and will be dying out as warm waters kill their habitat. Also the current government is gawdawfully awful and getting worse. I watched something very interesting on the History Channel yesterday. I'm gonna ask a question about it. Caligula was the topic. He got so full of himself he wanted the people to worship him and declared himself a living god. Fits DonJohn perfectly so I'm ask it and get whacked for it from the usual suspects. Caligula and DonJohn could be twins...separated by time. Thank you for your reply m'dear! :)
I saw that same broadcast myself yesterday. Illuminating.
There are alarming parallels to our current “situation”; in fact, within the last couple weeks I off-handedly referred to the current WH occupant as President Caligula in a post on another site.
Caligula held power for only a brief time...1441 days was it?... lets hope we don’t wait so long.
