Jacka**. Chicken. Turkey. Pig. Horse. Bird. All un-nice comments about humans. Well "she eats like a bird" isn't all that awful. WASSUP?

What did animals ever do to whomever it was who thought to start that? If someone "swims like a fish" that's a compliment I guess. Calling a human a shark? Compliment or insult? Some humans breed like rabbits. Some are as hard to get rid of as cockroaches. The elephant in the room is never about something good. Being compared to a bull...bully/bullsh**? Not so hot is it? Snakes poison, tigers maul. And so it goes. Why is this what humans do? D'ya think the animals use us to insult one another? Girlyman is a particular favorite perhaps? SIGH.

Somehow I don't think they care. Sometimes I use other animals as insults to my pets when they're doing something weird or dumb, but my pets don't really care because I have a nice voice when I say mean things to them. I also call my dog Goose because she's silly like a goose, she can also be very aggressive like a goose.. This post was edited by Patchouli at December 20, 2017 2:20 AM MST

Maybe not Patch. However how can you be SURE? Maybe animals "understand" more than we think they do. Maybe they read humans better than humans read them. I'm gonna ask.  You have a nice voice when you say mean things to them?   If I were your pet I'd be very confused by that. Mixed message! I forgot to add goose to my list. Some folks are definitely silly gooses but how does a goose manifest silly? Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday mdear! :)

I never really understood how geese are silly, but oh well. Anyway, they get all excited no matter what I say so long as it's a happy tone.
Like when I see the mess my guinea pig leaves I'll be all like "Oh my! Aren't you a disgusting little piggy! I guess that's why you're called a guinea PIG!" and she'll start squealing with excitement like she thinks it's time for a fresh salad or cuddles.

You have a guinea pig for a pet Patch? How did you arrive at that? So how cuddly are they? What's your pet's name?  I had a co-worker whose young daughter had a rabbit for a pet and she said the rabbit was a great pet. I read that once upon a time George Clooney had a pig for pet. I could be wrong about that. It might have been another actor. I guess you can make a pet of anything. :)Thank you for your reply! :)

I've always wanted a guinea pig, but so many of them are so skittish so it took a while before I finally decided to give 'em a chance. When I met my little piggy, she was the only one that let me pet her and pick her up and seemed really sweet so I got her. I call her Bugaboo because she was always skittering about and hiding when I first had her. She was really shy, but I gave her space and offered her fresh veggies every day until I gained her trust. You have to be really patient with them because of their skittish nature, but they're really cuddly and friendly when you win them over. I also like to call her Cuddlebug and Buggles.

Thank you for that first-person description Patch! Your patience was rewarded bigly. I mean she has to be a cutie pie and cuddly to call her Cuddlebug for sure. So you open a new door on pets for me. She is a vegetarian then and eats only veggies? Health-conscious? How cool is that. Well then give Cuddlebag a hug from "grammy Rosie"...more likely "great-grammy"! How old do they get to be?

I think they can live up to 8 years. My little piggy is a little over 2 years now so I have plenty of time left with my little Bug. I don't think they can produce their own vitamin C though, so I give her a daily dose of her precious bell peppers.

Do you feed Cuddlebug with RAW veggies Patch or do you cook them? I think raw green bell pepper can upset human tummies but cooked it seems not to be as bad. So if you're also a veggie lover you and Cuddlebug could theoretically eat the same meal! Do you? Thank you for the extra info. 8 years isn't a very long time. I hope Cuddlebug lives longer. Losing a beloved pet is hard as he** to bear!  :(

She likes them raw, sometimes I share cooked ones with her. I actually like bell peppers raw and they never bothered me and she seems to handle them just fine. I like to mix some carrot and dill or parsley with it and make little salads.

I had no idea Patch. So your little Cuddlebug is also a dining companion! Amazing! Recently I tried orange and yellow bell peppers. I've used red and green before a lot of course but the orange and yellow were always way more expensive for some reason. But for awhile they were each THE  SAME PRICE per unit! So of course I bought one of each and had a colorful and tasty stir fry. Ever try the other colors? Red is sweeter than green and the yellow and orange are sweeter too. We sometimes use then as dip sticks for dips. Very tasty! Thank you for your reply.

Does "she eats like a bird" refer to her eating worms and bugs?

Funnee hunnee. I never thought of it in that way. I took it to mean she eats "pick pick pick"  like a "sparrow". Small amounts of food and very picky picky picky. D'ya know what though? Years ago I saw a show about eating/cooking/ingesting insects. I'm not kidding. The "cook" waxed poetic about the nutritional benefits of worms et al. Very high in protein among other things. And I do recall (I'm not joking) many years ago in an  hoity toity hi-falutin' up-class store I saw a can of chocolate-covered ants or something equally bizarre. Thank you for your question. Apologies that I don't have an answer to it. What do YOU think it means? Happy Wednesday! :)
