So, I was informed my questions fall under 'outside the mug' category, in which category your questions fall into?

Until yesteday, I posted my questions under 'entertainment', since I believed my questions 'entertain' or tickle the AMers. Umm but yesterday evening I was informed that 'entertainment" category is really for information-seeking questions about things people do to entertain themselves, like games, or perhaps things people might do on a night out. So, mine should be categorized under 'outside the mug'. I've no problem with it. But I want to know if you too have received a similar message?

    I've never received that message. I always stick my questions in life and society, no matter the subject matter.

    No Veena, I've never received that message. 

    I usually post under "Humor and Jokes."  You might want to consider that.  In my mind, it's pretty much an anything goes category.

    Nah Harry, I might have to stick to outside the mug category, it seems two of our fellow muggers have been allotted the work of putting questions in right slots...so we aren't supposed to overburden them!

    Hi Veena K. ~ The questions I ask are so poorly worded, it's a free-for-all!   I'm happy if they get categorized at all. ;D!
    Nooooo, I'm teasin' ;)  I normally have questions, like you, that would qualify in the 'outside the mug' category.  Other questions I have asked pretty much end up in your junk mail! Big winks and smiles!  Lots of hugs! Love, Merlin

  • Usually just the top ones.   The category thing here is so arbitrary and pointless I never bother to care.  Just hover a cursor and click.  Whatever came up.


    It's not like it is actually organized on the menu by them anyway.  Plus there are way too many of them.

    Oh man. You guys. Do you know there are volunteers who go in after you and put things where they belong when you don't? I had no idea so many of you were being naughty. :o

    To clarify, we do have an area where people can search by category. It's below "Questions" on the main menu. Here's a link: https://answermug.com/forums/category/3 

    And, yes, people use it to search for things by category, so they can provide answers to things they're interested and/ or know well.

    So, it would be awesome if you started using the right categories- if for no other reason than to be nice to Alf. It's a wonder ya'll haven't sent him to an early grave.
