Would the world be better off if rapists/torturerrs/murderers had never been born? What about the victims? Would they have been better off?

I don't know how devastating a rape can be to the victim but it certainly can ruin their lives. And torture/murder? The perp never having been born would certainly have been better. So why are such evildoers born? What is their purpose other than destroying/torturing/murdering? What lessons do we learn from their having been here? What would we have lost had they stayed in he** where they belong? (if He** exists of course)

    Of course.  But we can't go around aborting pregnancies and killing children just because they fit someone's profile of a potential murderer, rapist etc.  People are born to help one another but when they take the abilities they have and only use them to elevate themselves then they are selfish and have no regard for others.  And I look at it like - OK I'm not going to let the bastards who raped and abused and hurt me "win" by ruining my life - I'm going to have the best and happiest life possible in spite of them!

People would not conceive them because that particular strain of defective homo sapiens would not exist. Your take on my question is very violent. That is your baggage not mine. Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday. Perhaps you should ask yourself why you thought that was what I meant? When did I ever advocate abortion or murder/killing of children? EVER?

    In fact, there are some studies that suggest there's a genetic link to rape- someone related to a rapist is five-times more likely to commit rape than another person is, but one of the leading studies also says that it's about 40% genetic, 60% environment. 

    Rosie, my oldest child was conceived when I was raped at the age of 15. Assuming he carries the "rape gene," he would not exist under your premise. He's a wonderful young man who looks out for others and absolutely dotes on his girlfriend. He would never in a million years cause anyone harm. He has brought a lot of light into this world, and has plans to make a major impact on society. To consider that this amazing person might not exist, or worse yet, to assume he's some kind of ticking time bomb because of the circumstances that created him... it's nothing short of disturbing. 

    My life would have been drastically different if I had not been raped. My grades were good enough that I could have gotten a full-ride scholarship to several colleges. I couldn't go because my support system was here. I couldn't afford the expenses of relocating and daycare. It's tough to say what I would have done and who I would have become. Arguably, I would have been more "successful" by some standards. I would have had a better education and a high-paying career. On the other hand, I may not have become the conscientious giving person I am. I think the latter has made me a better person and will lead to a more fulfilling life overall. 

    A world without rapists and murderers sounds wonderful, but I wouldn't wish the non-existence of the man involved in the creation of my son. It would be like wishing my son didn't exist. And, therein lies the even murkier area of your concept- you're theoretically wishing my son, in his own right, does not exist, based purely on his genes. Sad doesn't even begin to describe that. Genes can determine a lot, but they're not everything.

    Personally, I think that all life has value and that to have been born is better than to not have been born.  (And it would be extremely time consuming for me to explain that statement fully, so I won't.)

    If God exists (and I do think He does) and since I also think that their is a mapping of what happens in this life to what "is" in eternal life, that suggests that the "scales" to be balanced have one weighing platform that we can see and one that we cannot see.

    I wasn't around when He "made the world," so I don't know what transformation of what happened is going to balance things out.

    But I expect to say "Oh, of course" once I see that other platform.
