Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Folks who drive drunk can kill and do. Can you drive "drunk" on marijuana and kill too? Ever hear of anyone who did?
A few years ago my mum and my auntie were hit by a drunk driver. They were lucky it wasn’t worse than it was. They had a baby in the back too. Happy new year Rosie :)

I 'm glad they survived it Gk. You know sometimes I see crosses by the side of the road and I'm guessing that is where someone died in an auto accident. It always makes me feel so very sad. Glad the baby was okay too. That would have been a triple tragedy. Thank you for your reply and Happy New Year's 2018 Monday!. Does marijuana get folks as "drunk"/impaired as alcohol can Gypsyking? Do you know? California just approved it for "recreational" use and I'm wondering if that will have any negative impact on the number of auto accidents? It was approved for medicinal use here awhile ago.

Alcohol gives a driver too much confidence. Cannabis makes drivers too cautious. I’ve been in cars with drivers that are stoned and not felt in danger. Being clear headed is safer though. My dad used to take me to the pub when I was a kid and he would drive drunk. It wasn’t illegal then. It was frightening though lol. I remember him bumping into other cars quite often

Clear-headed is the only way to drive. It's scary to think what could have happened to you with your dad "impaired" as he drove..so drunk he bumped into other cars on your trip home? I shudder at that. Glad you survived him. Does he do that still or did he figure out it wasn't a good thing and stopped on his own? Thank you for your reply and the graphic Gk. They do not look like folks I'd want to invite to dinner! :) They both have their eyes closed and one of 'em is driving! YIKES!

He gave up driving once they banned drink driving lol. That clip is from one of my favorite films. It’s called cheech and Chong up in smoke. I recommend it if you haven’t seen it. It’s very funny if you like silliness.
What happened to Gypsyking? Was he kidnapped? Anyway I like Cheech Marin a lot. Didn't he star with Don Johnson in Miami Vice decades ago? As for Tommy Chong. Never got 'into" him so to speak. I can be very silly at times but I don't really enjoy wall-to-wall silly in entertainers. I'm not a fan of the 3 Stooges f'r instance. I think Cheech has a wonderful collection of art that he has loaned to museums from time to time. Thank you for your reply BA aka Gk aka BA before that! Happy Tuesday! :).
Smoking pot can impair someone for sure. What is worse than that are the edibles. A few years ago I bought some edibles from a local dispensary. One cookie was a triple dose and one was a double dose. I split both of them with a friend of mine. I was so messed up I couldn't walk down the hallway without holding on to the walls. I layed down on the couch in a fetal position for hours. My friend, who didn't get as stoned as I did because he was a big time pot smoker, was so worried about me that he watched over me for a couple hours. He still laughs about the fact this happened on a Friday and I had asked him if I was going to be okay to go to work on Monday. I was THAT messed up. Never again! I would have been in NO condition to drive!!
That sounds like a terrible nightmarish experience. Once upon a time long long ago a friend was smoking one and offered me a puff. I took 2-3 puffs but didn't inhale. I handed it back to him without feeling anything and never tried it again. I KNOW my limit for alcohol intake and what its affects are on me. I don't have a clue about marijuana and I figure that's probably something I don't need to experience. On the other hand I have read that it is quite useful for medicinal purposes with folks who have pain from cancer or AIDS. I'm not a fan of pain and so I think it's great that marijuana can help temporarily alleviate it. Thank you for your thoughtful and information-filled kinda SCARY reply PC and Happy Tuesday to thee. Boy I"m sure glad you weren't driving or something at the time! :)
I smoked when I was younger and always preferred pot over alcohol. I could drive if I was smoking, but not if I was drinking, I never had a wreck or got a ticket if I had been smoking, neither did any of my friends. I am not advocating driving while smoking, but it's no where near as d\bad as driving while drinking.
Thank you for your thoughtful reply LC and Happy Tuesday to thee. I can't recall ever reading about an auto accident caused by someone high on pot so I wondered what the effect on folks is compared to alcohol? As of January 1, 2018 it is now legal in California for "recreational" uses. It was legal before if you had a medical condition (AIDS or cancer) because it alleviates pain. But now you don't have to be ill with something to legally use it here. I wonder if there will be any affect/impact at all? :)
