Self-enrichment (the inner, non-material kind) need never end and is better if it continues till death. Sharing can start whenever the students appear, ask questions, and hang around to ask more.
These conditions are not mutually exclusive. The former needn’t cease because the latter begins. In this age of rapidly expanding knowledge we cannot know all there is to know, but we can impart what we have learned thus far. It should, in fact, be a social imperative, to further the advance our species.
