    No.  While many consider voting a civic duty, it is a right.  There is no law (here in the US) mandating people to vote.

    I overhead something on TV B about a state where they are purging voting records ostensibly to make sure there is no cheating going on but actually probably to minimize the number of votes of people of whom they disapprove. They want to remove people who didn't vote. I think that is deplorable. I hope they don't get away with it. I mean they have fewer voting places, limited hours and all kinds of rules to hamper voting as it is that the states create and enforce to  control the vote. SIGH. It didn't used to be that way. Oh well. Thank you for your reply! :)

    There are real problems that need addressing regarding voter lists.  Purging people who legitimately have the right to vote is not the answer. When people die or are found to have fraudulent ID, both of which I have personally seen maintained on voter lists, there needs to be a mechanism in place to remove those names.

    I agree. That is the ostensible reason given for the purges. We know better. The REAL reason is to limit folks whose vote  is not what the powers that be want so they will finable any way they can to stack the deck, pollute the act of voting. Honest purging yes. Partisan purging? Sucks biigtime and infuriates the he** outta me just as the blatant gerrymandering does. Winning by cheating is not my cuppa tea. Thank you for your reply B and Happy Thursday! :)

    I think we shold automatically be registered to vote when we get out gov issued ID (drivers license or non drivers ID) no more registering everywhere....no more games. 
    You must verify citizenship when getting your ID...that is already law. 
    Some states are giving illegals DL so there must be oversite to ensure that those are not being registered to vote. 
    It needs to be updated regularly when voters die or are convicted of a crime in which they are supposed to be prevented from voting.

    Of course it is. One state was trying to do that very thing. Guess whY? Yep. Republicans in all states wish to prevent Democrats from voting and so they will lie and cheat and scheme to cause that outcome. SIGH. They are all so anxious to win they will do/say ANYTHING. Winning by cheating is their MO don'tcha know? Thank you for your reply Sharon! :)
