Many Republican Pols are leaving politics. Is it because they see the ship of state is going down and they want to leave before they drown?

Why else? A vote of NO CONFIDENCE in the ship's captain. It couldn't be any clearer than that. Could it?

Is that what's going on m2c? Do they know they are going to lose in 2018 and are leaving so they don't get embarrassed? So if true that the Dems will get a lot of votes and with Republicans leaving in droves how does that affect the ability of donjohn  to get anything done? It's possible (I don't know how likely) that the Dems will take back both House and Senate. Impeachment proceedings would begin immediately if that were to happen. So isn't the Republican Party worried that the votes they would otherwise have been able to count on will or may no longer be there? Dems winning in red states is already happening. Witness Alabama. So you are willing to let establishment Republican votes go away and hope for what to replace them? A Breitbart extreme right wing white Nationalist? You do know the donjohn is flying off to Davos, Switzerland to take part in the meetings going on there?  Very elite folks worldwide. You do know these folks believe in no borders and globalism do you not? Your prez is going there and probably taking a zillion others to a very expensive place that costs a whole ton of money  at your expense and mine to partake in the finest foods and hobnob with the obscenely wealthy which will probably cost us MILLIONS of dollars. Your so-called "for the working folks" prez. I dunno. If I were thee that would upset the He** outta me. Are you upset or do you have a great defense for your prez? I'm waiting to hear it. Thank you for your reply! :) This post was edited by RosieG at January 11, 2018 4:55 AM MST

They are votes that cannot ne counted on...if they were then Repeal and Replace would have passed, the tax cuts would  not have been a squeaker, and we would not have to wonder if we can get the wall.
It is not a guarantee that a Dem will pick up the seats....it will depend on who runs as the Rep in these states. In fact, I think mid terms may go better for the GOP because of new candidates....mid-terms traditionally would favor the party out of power.
I am not worried about Davos. I look for it to be similar to Nikki Haley talking at the UN, or Trump telling NATO countries to pay their share.
I believe Trump is gonna slap them with "America First" and they are not gonna like it. This post was edited by my2cents at January 11, 2018 7:47 AM MST
