Have you ever tried to gain respect when you really wanted love?

    Respect, for me, is the first base: everyone deserves it simply because we are sentient.
    If someone has no respect, then I don't want to know them.

    In a loving relationship, if one partner has briefly lapsed in respect, I'd guess he or she is angry.
    That's the time to listen, to find out what's causing the anger, what the need is, and then try to find the solution.

    For me, respect is the ground for love and I do not try and gain it. I hope at this point in my life I act in a manner that wins the respect of anyone I care have respect for me.

    Very few people know what either of those words actually means. Almost everybody thinks "respect" is a function of firepower.
