Yes. In an age in which most of us feel cynical about politicians, it is tempting to refuse to have anything to do with politics. But the larger the number of people who do that, the more easily and completely corruption and abuse of power can take over. History amply demonstrates it. The answer to ineffectual or damaging leaders is to sack them at the next election and head-hunt the right candidates to replace them. So public and private discussion of politics is vital to the success of democracy.
