SCENE OF THE CRIME. Perris, California. PERPS. David Allen Turpin, 57 and Louise Lane Turpin, 49. How would YOU punish them?

Their 13 children, ages  2-29, were held captive in the home, some in shackles and padlocks. Neighbors thought they were home-schooled and a little strange but had no idea what was going on inside the home. David Turpin's parents said they had so many children because God told them to do so and they were good Christians. What you see here is another typical set of MONSTROUS parents who harmed their children instead of protecting them from harm. I wonder how many children live in terror and suffer grievous harm at the hands of their "loving" parents? :(

I would put them in cages or chain them to furniture and starve them the same as they did to their children.

They are currently in jail being held on $9 million bail. I believe all the children are in the hospital because they are all badly malnourished. There are adults among them but they look like little kids because of the weight and size. How long this was going on we don't know but these children will have a long way to go emotionally, mentally, physically to survive. They have all undergone so much damage that I don't know how they will cope. SIGH. That monsters like this live among us always shocks me. Thank you for your reply Spunky! :)

I don't have children of my own, but it is beyond me how any adult could hurt a child.  How fortunate for these kids that the 17-year old was able to escape and call for help.  They will all ()except perhaps the youngest of them) be in therapy for a very long time.

That's exactly right. It's worse than being prisoners of war because prisoners of war suffered at the  hands of the enemy. These suffered at the hands of their parents? I cannot imagine the damage that has been done to them. Thank you for your reply Spunky. Being a parent is a privilege and an honor and parents have a bounden duty to protect them and nurture them and guide them until they can take wing and fly away These parents are vermin and should be exterminated in the most heinous way. Thank you Spunky. Read this morning that the abuse became torture. The children were allowed one meal a day and one shower A YEAR. The article said the monster parents may spend the rest of their lives in jail. What a waste! How much will it cost to keep two monsters alive? SIGH. :(

I'm hoping they get jailhouse justice.  A lot of those guys don't like child abusers.

Pedophiles do not survive well in prison. I read that sexual abuse was also part of what the children suffered. The monsters may be kept in isolation. I dunno. But whatever happens to them is way too good for them. Thank you for your reply Spunky and Happy Saturday m'dear! :)

I agree with you.  I'm not even sure the death penalty would be justice.  They would not have to relive any of what they did.  Keeping them in solitary confinement and treating them the way they treated those children might be good.  Happy Saturday. :)

What amazes me is how they could have gotten away with it for so long? How could no one have noticed anything wrong? I know they homeschooled but didn't neighbors think something was very wrong never seeing the children? Anyway I hope I never again read of anything as heinous as that. I mean Perris is just a few miles away from Hemet. How many more Perris' are there somewhere? Thank you for your reply Spunky! :)

I asked myself the same questions, but in truth, I have neighbors on my floor who have children that I've never seen.  I wouldn't know if they were in school or not.  What I would have found strange is that the kids were out laying sod at night, but I doubt I would have called the police.  Happy Monday. :)

It's their relatives that are most puzzling to me. They didn't care enough to call/visit/observe? Thank you for your reply Spunky! :)

I guess the parents made it clear they weren't welcome.  There's only so much you can do.
