If the prez can say what he thinks and not lose his job why don't others in his employ have that same right?

Carl Higbie, former Navy Seal and Conservative radio talk show personality, was appointed Chief of External Affairs for CNCS ( Corporation for National and Community Service), a federal government volunteer service organization. He just resigned for having made comments that are racist/sexist/anti-Muslim/anti-LGBT. So here's the question. Is what you say about how you feel sufficient to get you fired or cause you to resign? If so why isn't that same rule applied equally to everyone in government? Why are there exceptions?

I'm asking what YOU think m2c.  What I think is completely irrelevant. What do YOU think and why?
