Sometimes the money you make and what you have to do to make it are in conflict. Do you go with principle or pocketbook?

Would YOU work with or for Woody Allen? Why?

I have not sought certain jobs because I observed how those who held them compromised daily on basic values and principles that most people hold to be necessary.

I would hope I would always be guided by my principles. I do make "moral" (right vs wrong) decisions on a daily basis, but they hardly arise out of situations that I am unable to control.

I've left a couple of jobs because of that. Turned down several promotions because I am just not suited to spending time managing people who can't get along. I get impatient and when I get impatient it is not a good thing for anyone involved. I know my strengths and weaknesses. I turned down a job offer because when I examined the books I saw some questionable things and when I pointed them out I was unhappy with the response I got.  Fortunately money has never been my carrot.  Also fortunately I have been very lucky in that sometimes a very good salary and very good bennies came along with the job. That happened when I became the in-house accountant for a couple who owned some McDonald's restaurants. They had a pension plan AND profit sharing which served me very well when I retired.  My best ever job surprised the he** outta me. Only after I started working there. They had profit-sharing and an insurance plan whereby whatever out-of-pocket cost you paid during the year was returned in full at the end of the year! They had a computer program tracking it. It was all automatic. They gave generous bonuses every year! I couldn't believe my good luck. I also got to travel and do audits in Tulsa, Oklahoma,a place I grew to really love and Long Island, New York. Our subcontractors were McDonnell-Douglas and Grumman. I think some of us are born under a lucky star tom. I'm one of them! Thank you for your reply! :)
