    Because it makes us feel better. The extreme example is the man who wont believe his child died in the crash he caused. It just must not be true.

    I can understand that example very well JakobA. Some things are just too terrible to accept so you find a way around it. Thank you for your  reply. That's about the worst example I can think of...losing a child in any way would be awful but being the cause of it? :(
