Extraodaniry things can be both wonderful and also horrific Rosie... A hurricane can often kill thousands yet it is still one of the wonders of nature.....

Snow falling covering hills ,mountains and Vallies looks simply stunning ,yet how many deaths occur because of it.....

That two-edged sword seems to crop up everywhere doesn't it D? I think the Northern Lights are extraordinarily beautiful as is also true of sunsets, rainbows. a puffy white clou-filled sky. A delicious meal. A kind person. There is a lot of extraordinary in the world. Sometimes we have to look hard for it because it is blocked by crap! Thank you for your reply! :)

Check out the super Moon ....the last appearance of it was 3 Dec 2017.......It was 50,000 miles nearer to the earth in its orbit so it's only 188,000 miles away rather than 239,000 miles....
The best place to view it is on top of an old volcano in the Canary island in the Atlantic ocean.....

Nature is incredible and in so many cases unbelievable ........ I envy so much Sir David Attenborough ....that man  must have the most unbelievable life.....What hasn't he seen or experienced.....He truly is rich beyond wealth.... A couple of days ago we saw the blood red moon here in California D. A total eclipse of  a blue moon with red hues. The last time it happened was in 1982! California was one of the best places to view it as was Australia. It started at 4:51 am pacific coast time and ended about 6:07 a.n. It was magnificent D! I agree. Nature is incredible. I'd love to see the Aurora Borealis in real life. I have only ever seen it through a TV screen. It's still incredibly beautiful. Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday to thee!

I dunno sweetie. NEVER is a long time. We keep learning new things all the time. For instance once upon a time "they" thought there were only 100 billion galaxies in the Universe. Then "they" upped it to 200,000. Now it is 2 trillion. Once upon a time "they" said the world was flat. They said the earth was the center of the universe and everything revolved around that. Once upon a time doctors did ads for cigarettes. That was before they knew cigarettes are death sticks. So every day in every way we are learning more. Once upon a time we didn't know exposure to the sun can cause skin cancer. People fried under the sun and got very golden brown. Once upon a time we didn't know asbestos causes lung cancer. Maybe in a zillion years or so we  will have learned everything  we need to know and run out of question. Mebbe?  :)

Did you know that to get from one side to the other of the Milky Way it would take two hundred million years traveling at the speed of light.....

Nothings goint to happen in our life span Rosie.....human bodies disintegrate with out the pull of gravity...
There is also a Theroy that if you leave our solar system and are away from earth for a few years......forty thousands years could have passed on earth....

I did not know that my friend. That is why quantum physics fascinates me so. Time travel, wormholes, spacetime, black holes, parallel universes, multiple dimensions. There is a theory that every time you "decide" on something all the possible decisions that you could have were made and exist in parallel universes where different iterations of YOU live parallel lives based on those decisions. On occasion you meet a doppelganger from a parallel life. Interesting eh what?   :)

Good point D. We KNOW the guvment has kept information from us. What, why, when we don't know. It's something we live with and probably always have and always will. "They" say it's for the national security and safety of our country. We KNOW that is pure bullsh**! "They" release classified info whenever it suits them like doofus don did yesterday. So what are they hiding I wonder?  :(

Don't worry......They will leak something new when they feel they need to dumb something else down........we are all led by silly men /women that think they are gods gift to the human race.... This post was edited by Nice Jugs at February 4, 2018 3:59 AM MST

True. I don't know what infuriates me more D. The fact they lie to us or the fact that they think we buy it! They are uniformly arrogant and ignorant...a lethal combination. We move on. What will today? Who can say? Is there a deliverer from evil out there somewhere ready to come to our aid? I'm gonna ask! Thank you for your reply my friend! :)

I asked a question earlier today about self-interest D. We can't help others unless we survive and that takes a certain amount of self-interest. Beyond that when others need help and we can provide it I think we are obligated to do so. I expect you believe that too. Now if that were the norm and how everyone comported themselves the world would not be so divided. The problem lies with those who already have more than they will ever need or use and still want more. They want more and more and more and screw you or anyone who tries to prevent them from getting it. Now I'm not sure to what your "I think you are clutching at straws..." alludes/refers so if you'd explain that to me I'd appreciate it! Thank you for your reply D! :)

Please - extraordinary what?   Like extraordinary accomplishments?  Or qualities in people?  Or talents?   Well you admire them and you might wish you had those qualities or achievements.  Hopefully you emulate them if you are able.

However you wish m'dear. I can't tell you what is extraordinary to me. I want to know what you think is extraordinary and does it unnerve you or delight you? Thank you for your questions og. Did I answer them?

Well all those things and more.  I think it is better to look for the best in people rather than the worst.  Anyway what we look for mostly is what we find - so why not look for the extraordinary?

Here is the other side of that coin og. You turn away, refuse to look, occupy yourself with things you like. That way you don't see the cruelty/tragedy/ugly. That way you don't have to put out a helping hand to help those less fortunate. Just block it out. Go shopping. Watch a movie. Buy clothes. It's your choice of course. It depends on whom you want to be and that is what you become sensitive to and open to. Life is not happy 24/7 for anyone. We are all in this together and we should not cherrypick what we pay attention to so we can make ourselves feel good about whom we are. Just my opinion. Thank you for yours.

But this seems more related to your other question about tragedy. Which is all around us.   And even helping we hardly make a dent in it.  So you believe then it is proper to be miserable all the time because others are miserable?  When there are so many positive things in life for us?  The pint is we have to have things to block out all the misery like clothes or shopping or reading or music because those are the things given to us that are positive for us.  Do you not think part of life is learning to feel good about ourselves.  If we do not or if we do not accomplish anything ourselves then we have nothing to give to others. Not sure what all this has to do with what is extraordinary.  Tragedies are often most ordinary but that does not make them any less tragedies. What we like, what pleases us, what makes us feel good are nothing but the other side of the coin to tragedies.  Without those things all is tragedy!

You are putting words in my mouth og. It is NOT an EITHER/OR proposition. Life is a tapestry containing all things. You can focus on  tiny bit of or you can focus on its entirety. Your choice. You put things in black/white terms. You are forgetting all the degrees of gray which is where most of life is lived. I think you like to chat in depth about many things which is fine with me but you can't assume a thing and then run with it. That is what you have done above. If you pay as much attention to the dark as you do to the light I think that is  good thing. Nowhere have I said you should dwell 24/7 in the dark. You assume that and your assumption is incorrect. Thank you for your reply.
