It profits me to be myself and always be true to what I am and whom. What profits you and why?

  • I can't buy into that Emerson idea at all. Suppose the way you treat people is wrong. Do you continue mistreating people just to be true to yourself? Sounds like pontificating to me. It 's too easy to say I'm always right and you're always wrong and do it in the name of "being true to what I am". One can be themselves to the extent of being comfortable with their assets and liabilities, as well as doing the best with what they've got and being satisfied and finding happiness. The caveat is that the whole world isn't always wrong and sometimes it profits one to listen.

It is commanded of me to be myself.   It is demanded.  I am expected to operate that way.  If I do no harm to others and I am extending my best to the world, I need not worry.

Does it puzzle you  Sharon that so many otherwise "normal" people (that's an assumption on my part) could be co-opted by donjohn to become the scum and sleaze they have become just to service him? The entire Repub lican party and base are now all debased and seem to adore the space they occupy. Now were they always that way and just waiting for someone to appreciate them as they really are or did he turn them into what they are today? I suppose that's a chicken-or-the egg conundrum. Thank you for your reply.
